Perthshire
Crieff lies in the heart of Perthshire, also known as Big Tree Country, and is one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. There are lochs, rivers, forests and mountains galore. Nearby are charming little towns like Comrie, Aberfeldy and Dunkeld, which are lovely places to spend a few hours.
Perthshire has played an integral part in Scotland’s history, which has manifested itself in a great number of impressive castles, grand houses and stately gardens, many of which can be visited today.
There is a large number of tourist attractions within an hour’s drive.
The area provides everything for lovers of the outdoors, be it walking, fishing, golf, rock-climbing, riding, canoeing or cycling. For more information and to plan your stay at Old St. Michaels visit the pages activities and our area gallery for inspiration. We are happy to give further information upon your arrival.
Further Afield
The Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park is very close and starts at Loch Earn. It is worth exploring and comprises a number of other equally beautiful Lochs like Loch Ard, Loch Voil & Loch Venachar. Ben A’n with its spectacular summit views is a very popular hill for young and old alike.
Day trips towards the West coast are perfectly feasible.
Popular destinations are Glencoe (90 mins), Fort William (2 hours) and Oban (2 hours). The drives to these places are exceptionally scenic.
Many of our guests also visit the East coasts of Fife and Aberdeenshire.
Fife is a beautiful peninsula with many picturesque fishing villages, coastal walks and of course the historically famous Golf and University town of St. Andrews with its long sandy beach.
In Aberdeenshire one of the most popular destinations has proved to be Dunnottar Castle at Stonehaven.
